Today has been a good day. I woke up early, went to Main Street Education Centre and showed the adviser my updated transcript. So, now I'm done with high school. She said congratulations to me and that felt good. In about two weeks I will receive a ministry transcript that says I have graduated, and then in about another two weeks I will receive my diploma. I will be in Japan when those come, but they will be waiting for me when I get home.
Then I drank some soy milk on my way home. It was absolutely delicious. When I got home, I had a nap for about an hour. I had set my alarm clock for 15 minutes, but apparently my ears decided that I needed more sleep than that and they refused to hear the radio. I woke up around noon thirty. It was a good nap.
My grandmother and I went out for lunch at a sweet little bakery by my house that I sometimes stop at on the way home from school. We both had a small cup of soup and a sandwich. I had a hummus sandwich and my grandmother had a turkey sandwich. I also ordered a glass of home-made iced tea... the absolute best iced tea in Vancouver. It was really nice having lunch with my grandma and the walk to the bakery was very pleasant. It had seemed like the day might get rather cold and wet when I woke up this morning... but by lunch time, the sun was shining and the birds were chirping and there were flowers everywhere.
After lunch, I had thought I might have another nap... but then my brother came home. So, we went to Starbucks after I had finished some paperwork. He ordered an iced latte and I ordered an HERBAL iced tea lemonade. I usually order green iced tea or black iced tea but I am not allowed to have any caffeine or chocolate anymore. Well... it's not just that I'm not allowed, because I was NEVER allowed, but now I actually fear the stuff. I do not ever want to have anything paralyzed for even a few minutes ever again. I'm thinking I might start eating copious amounts of white chocolate in order to help with the emotional withdrawal symptoms I'm having over cutting the stuff out of my diet. Anyway, my herbal iced tea lemonade was absolutely delicious and I drank it before my brother and I had even got home. He made fun of me, like he always does, because of my obsession with liquids. I love liquids. It might be a diabetic thing.
After our Starbucks trip, I went to Daiso. I found out that there is FREE underground parking there! I never knew that and always paid to park outside. Not paying for parking today was absolutely excellent, as I had run out of coins by this point. I bought THREE pencil cases at Daiso to replace the one that was stolen. I know that this might sound a little bit excessive, but a pencil case only costs $2 at Daiso and I wasn't sure which one would be the best size for all of my school supplies. I figure, if my pencil case is ever stolen from me again, I will have a back up. Also, I can have variety now, if I feel like it. One of them is a blue cat with the happiest looking expression on his face. The other one has yellow, green and blue dots on it. The third is very plain and basic with a little bit of lace on it.
On the way home from Daiso I stopped at the tailor to pick up my pretty summer sun dress. I was having it altered so it would fit me better. It is really cute and it is made out of my favourite fabrics... bamboo and cotton! My favourite fabric has always been cotton, but only because bamboo didn't seem to exist here before. Now I think bamboo is my favourite, with cotton coming in an extremely close second. I have been planning what sorts of clothes to take to Japan, and I will for sure bring my bamboo sun dress. Bamboo fabric is the best to take traveling because it dries really quickly and it doesn't start to smell bad as quickly as other fabrics... so you don't have to wash it as much! It's also great for wicking away moisture, which is good, because I tend to walk a lot, and therefor sweat, when I'm traveling.
Now I am home. I am waiting for my daddy to come home so that we can all have dinner with my grandma. She is in town until Monday. I absolutely adore my grandma... I really look up to her and I identify with her a lot. It's so nice that she's visiting.
