i'd rather be sleepless and social than rested and reclusive

random:
as i was posting my last rambling last night, i was talking to filter online.  for the first time in like forever.  he suggested we go to valleyfair today.  i'm like... sure... sweet.  i honestly haven't really spent time with this guy since high school... probably since he was in high school.  i mean, there have been pep band outings (he's the one sitting at applebees with the 15-18 year olds sipping his mudslide and/or beer, haha), but nothing that involved meaningful conversation or anything.  so it was really nice to actually go out with him today, even if it did mean i had to get out of bed.  good stuff, good stuff.

came back around 5:30.  totally exhausted.  plopped on the couch for an hour before choir.  pretty much wanted to take a nap, but i was too lazy to get up to set the alarm on my phone, and i knew i'd sleep right through choir.  how sick is that... i was too lazy to allow myself to sleep...

laura came to community choir, per my telling her to be there.  we rocked the 2nd altos.  yupyup.

rehearsal, of course, was followed by some applebeesness.
and a big wow.
ok, i've been living at this applebees for about a billion years.  (ok, at least 5.)  i have never had that horrible of service.  (ok, once... but that was before then...)
but, yeah, anyway.

we walked in the door, followed by four other people.  the hostess apparently knew/was expecting the four people behind us.  (note... behind us)  the hostess said not a word to us.  hell, she didn't even look at us.  she started talking to the people behind us and continued on to seat them.  and laura and i stand there confused.  as they are walking away, another girl comes to seat us, as we are talking about how awkward/rude/weird that was.  the girl seating us apologized, and i tell her that she has nothing to apologize for - it was all about that other girl.  weird.  so, anyway, we go on with life.  but apparently we really were invisible.  we got seriously like no attention from our waiter.  he was at the table next to us (high school soccer girls...) about a billion times, but never even stopped to ask how we were doing/ask if we wanted refills/anything.  he did bring us refills at one point.  he didn't ask, he just did it.  laura had been needing one for a while anyway.  eventually (a while after we finished the food), he finally stopped by, at which time we ordered dessert.  when another girl brought the dessert, she didn't bother to pick up any of the old dishes.  and we were sitting at one of those tiny little 2-person tables.  so, like, there was no space.  at all.  i piled some dishes on top of each other and shoved it off to the side... and there was almost enough room.  right.  a while after we finished, he brought our check.  we pulled out our credit cards.  it was seriously at least 10 minutes that we sat there, obnoxiously tapping our cards on the table, before he came back.  like, wow.
ridiculous.
let's just say his tip was small.  quite.

we decided we couldn't end the night on that crappy note.  we decided to redeem it by watching "the emperor's new groove".  of course, we spent most of the time just girltalking and facebooking, so we didn't really watch that much of the movie.  but, you know, it was good.

i have to work at 9 in the morning.  i should be sleeping now.  i probably should have been sleeping a while ago.  but, you know, i'd rather be out with people til after 1 than to stay at home like i usually do.  sleep is overrated anyway.

i think my washing machine stopped.  i had to wash my black gauchos so i have something black to wear with my minnesota valley community band polo at our concert tomorrow.  :-)  now i spose i can throw my shit in the dryer and go to sleep.  as well i should.

nightnight.

rants, home, friends, food, stories, music, smiles
