We received a call on Thursday night that Jan was in critical condition. We had already planned on going over the weekend to see her. We headed out around 2 and arrived there at 6. Jan was in good spirits - talking, laughing, telling stories. Like she always is. She asked the sister - sister-in-laws to go get her a new temple dress and other temple things. So we went and picked out a beautiful temple dress. Kind of hard going to get the last thing she will ever wear. But she wanted it ready. Eridee made everything and anything she wanted to eat. We just tried to make her as comfortable as possible.
On Saturday, she was a little more tired, but wanted tried to be alert. But by Sunday she was very run down and tired. She couldn't stay awake for very long. We all sat with her and talked and held her hand. She knew she was near the end. We all said our goodbyes and started getting ready for our journeys home. She gave each of us a hug and kiss and told us she loved us and to take care of each other. Thayne and I stayed for a little while longer before we started home. We got home around 8 or so. Got the kids ready for bed and went to bed around 11. Thayne's phone rang about 4 am, he thought it was just an email or text. A few minutes later I asked him who called and he said it was just an email. Then he checked his phone and it was his dad that called and she had passed away. I didn't sleep much the rest of the night. Neither did Thayne. I am glad we were able to see her and enjoy her before she passed. She was an amazing person. She will be missed dearly.
