What with reading so many manuscripts and all (okay, just one so far--333 pages--I'm in the middle of a second one though), an idea sort of clubbed me over the head today as I walked back from work.

I should really get working on my long projects again, especially as it's summer and I have no excuse.

ALA VERITY HAS JUST POSTED HER FIRST UPDATE IN SIX MONTHS.

It's just a drabble. But she has been working on this thing that is the epitome of all her life frustrations for half a year now. And while it may be a piece of trash, it is writing nonetheless.

We finally got our first assignment for our short writing class, which was this:

Write a scene in which two characters are at odds: one wants something that the other doesn't want to give--money, respect, jewelry, pizza, sex, info, anything. Be sure to focus on this one desire and push it until one character prevails.
