With Regret
As you know, we had been invited to perform Before the Dawn at the Eastercon in two months time. However, we were already two participants down, having lost a drummer and a Prince. Since then, it has become clear that a couple of other people were very, very iffy about being able to take part, plus we would be losing our lead guitarist for a couple of weeks right in the middle of the rehearsal period, as the_magician will be the Interfilk guest at Consonance in California. As we should be launching into serious rehearsing now, this is really not the time to start frantically searching for lots of new cast members. So a number of people /b/e/n/t/ /m/y/ /e/a/r/ advised me over the weekend, and fleetfootmike reluctantly agreed, that we should tell the Eastercon committee *now*, that we will not be putting on a performance of Before the Dawn, so that they have enough time to fill the holes in the programme. I have spoken to the head of Eastercon programming, watervole, who was disappointed that BtD would not be happening, but was pleased that we had told her now, when she still has time to do something about it, rather than in a month's time, when she would have been Very Cross.
I am disappointed that we won't be doing BtD at this year's Eastercon. It would be really nice to do it again, but preferably in year when I'm less stressed about the day job and less involved in other things and when fleetfootmike isn't running a filkcon... I'm sorry people, but it was a decision that had to be taken now.
