I just started my shelf project for the garage. I did not intend to put alot of work into this project but my creativity starts going wild and it just spurs me on. It is not terribly complex but there are some fudimental ideas that are quite useful in the garage. When it starts to resemble something I will post pictures. All in all it is about a 3 to 4 day project when done right; that is to say you use wood that is not warped.
When the first shelf is done, it will sit underneath the garage door, it will have a space beneath the shelves for the trashcans, space above for some very simple drawers, and an open area to put things like trashbags, pestiside cans, batteries to be recycled, etc. The advantage to this shelving is that it is really not that difficulty to make. It is freestanding so you take it with you when you move. It is partially modular in that you take it apart to simplify moving. It will also bolt together with the other shelves for support.
When all the shelves are complete I will have similar contruction to house my bikes, lawnmower, sport equipement and lawn tools. :-)
