This is really more of a question than a pairing. I've been kicking around this idea of a 'Gaius does the Galactica' sort of series, where I'd need to find me a het writer and just do all the slash myself, because Gaius just amuses me and he strikes me as someone who would totally do that. Anyway. I'm wondering if they could have any previous knowledge of each other, met at a cocktail party or something seeing as they were both famous people on Caprica? I don't know. I'm just trying to find a way to fit them in without them seeming to share any screen time. Well, besides the theory of Gaius being cylon-sexual.

I think Leoben and Sam are really the perfect pairing for both Sam and Leoben. I think they'd have a nice mix, roughness and intensity, but under other circumstances could be sort of sweet. They are good in that there's enough possibilities for them in the context of the show, but lots of room for subtle AU speculation, like, what if they'd known each other before the attack the way Six knew Baltar, or what if Leoben infiltrated the survivor camp? Or one of them stalks Anders the way that most of them seem to stalk Kara? They have a lot of opportunity that I think would be really interesting to explore. It also, for me, solves the problem of what do we do with the only hot male non-five cylon, as there just isn't enough slash on the cylon basestar (because really, why would you want to slash Leoben with Doral, Simon or Cavil?)

Sam and Lee are so hot in theory but I just can't imagine them being quite as hot in practice. They'd be hot if you could get them angry and rawr at each other, but less so if they are just upset about dead!Kara.

There's also a lot of potential with Felix Gaeta, maybe not with Anders so much but probably with anyone else on the Battlestar who is considering a same sex relationship but wants to experiment with their sexuality first. I just imagine he's sort of the go to gay guy, as, well, have you seen him? <3

Hmm I could totally see Anders and Baltar meeting pre-series somehow. I have to admit, the "Gaius does the Galactica" is pretty damn hilarious. Funny thing, he's not that many characters away from achieving it! Hahaha.

Re: Leoben & Sam. They actually do have a past history. He mentions interrogating a Leoben model when Kara and Helo first meet them. So there's definitely some past history there. And I have to totally agree with this: I think they'd have a nice mix, roughness and intensity, but under other circumstances could be sort of sweet. Wholeheartedly so! If I could somehow find a way around my writer's block, I would totally be writing this pairing right this second Hehehe.

I just can't imagine them being quite as hot in practice. → I kind of agree here. I've been stuck on a Sam/Lee fic for... well forever, and I haven't been able to get around... all the crap I need to get around. They're stubborn that way!

And speaking of Gaeta, and as to what you were saying about Baltar and Gaeta earlier, I totally get that. I remember seeing Baltar hiding behind the curtain in sick bay and my heart kind of broke a little. At least they acknowledged that these characters have a very rich and complicated history. And it's almost canon!

I remember an interview, reading something, about AJ saying he played his character with the motivation that he was in love with Baltar? I swear I heard that he said that in an interview somewhere. So that's as close to canon as any of these slash pairings are probably going to get!

That being said, with few exceptions, I have a hard time with canon. I'm always looking for something outside of that. So it's probably good that most of my favorite pairings don't actually get together. Although, I doubt that would deter me at that point.

I think the emotional context of Baltar and Gaeta is something I could play with for sure. It's definitely dark and angsty enough. If I could just get into that headspace.

I totally agree with you on the canon thing. Its so much less fun to play with things that are out on the table. Gaius and Felix are an exception for me because I imagine there's so much that's just unsaid between them, especially if Gaeta does have this secret dom thing. Its a little more dynamic than just plain old hero worship.

I really need to start writing for this show. I have a perfect setup for a Lee/Romo fic that'd just be perfect and I've been honing my Gaius in roleplay. I've never had a character that was so unapologetic for his actions, and so self-centered.. he's just fun.

I need to do more research on Anders and Leoben, both. I have to admit when I was watching the whole thing more for Gaius and Gaeta... but I should watch the show again for Anders and Leoben.

You definitely should start writing this show, especially with all these great thoughts in your head already about it!

I have quite a few exceptions that are canon, Kara/Leoben being a major one! (Pay no attention to the het behind the curtain!)

I love the idea of a "gaius does galactica" series. I was thinking about this while waiting for the train this morning, and it seems to me that one way to do it is to set it during S1. Gaius is still trying to build that cylon detector. He has discovered that cylons' spines glow in certain circumstances - and so he has some tests to perform . . .
