the boys we love loving the boys we love... and stuff...
I'm a chronic multi-shipper so it's honestly hard for me to talk about my favorite Battlestar Galactica slash pairings and bsg rps pairings without mentioning my favorite het pairings as well. But I will try to restrain myself. (No promises with threesomes, though.)
For me, I notice there are a few characters that I love and I can ship them with just about anybody, generally speaking. Let's see if I can outline the whys and the wherefores of my favorite bsg slash pairings.

The one guy? Sam Anders (and conversely, Michael Trucco):
Can we talk about how easily slashable this guy is? I don't know what it is about him, but he is. He was a bit of an enigma, first of all. Going from a guest star to regular cast member, we didn't know all that much about him. He was an unofficial soldier and a pro athlete and, essentially? Unemployed. Before the whole, final four/nugget viper pilot gig, he had a lot of free time on his hands... with his hands... you know what I am saying? He's very gregarious and open, and he's got chemistry with just about everybody he shares screentime with, which helps.
Tyrol/Sam:
This is my first love as far as BSG slash pairings go. There's just something about these cuddly boys fighting side by side on New Caprica and then discovering that they are cylons together. I think dayln03 actually prompted me with them once, post season three, and I was in love with the pairing ever since. It just makes sense. Their storylines have been somewhat parallel, each going through the same, or similar, things. I honestly cannot resist them together.
Duck/Sam:
Okay so I think I can blame cynthia_arrow for this one. She first put the idea in my head. I wrote my first (and only) Sam/Duck fic for our first challenge here at the slashathon and they really have become the kind of fanon that is canon to me at this point. They've really only had one scene together in one episode in the entire series, but they hug in it! And there's angst! And they stare at each other longingly! They're just two sweaty, pyramid-playing, strong-armed boys hugging! How many of the male characters on this show have hugged that weren't related? So yeah, that was just some slash waiting to happen and I personally think more people should write them!
(You could argue that Duck is a Gary Stu cause he hasn't been in the show that much, a few episodes in season 2 and one in season three. But if you watch the Resistance webisodes, there's a lot more to him - who he is, what he lost, the reasons he decided to sacrifice himself, etc.)
Leoben/Sam:
I can't say I ever had the desire to slash Leoben, which is really weird for me considering that I really like the slash. But part of this, I realize, is because Leoben hasn't had that much interaction with the other male characters. When he and Sam had their moment in The Road Less Travelled and I remembered that Sam had interrogated Leoben on Caprica during the first resistance, this pairing started making a lot more sense to me. They're both cylons, and they're both hung up on Kara Thrace, and they're both really hot so... what's not to slash? I say, slash away. (And if you want to throw Kara in the mix, because I totally would, then go right ahead!)
Other pairings that I have less to say about:
Callum Keith Rennie/Michael Trucco: My only RPF slash pairing. (And you could throw in a Tricia or a Katee and make it an even three and I would not complain.)
Helo/Tyrol: What is it about guys who are hung up on (essentially) the same woman? And lets not forget their time in the brig together.
Hotdog/Sam: I need to thank cynthia_arrow for writing probably the only fic with this pairing. And holy hell! It is hot as shit! I don't know what it is about Hotdog, but I have this strange urge to pair him with Sam. (And Kara, but I promised I wouldn't talk about that!) The poor boy needs some, alright.
Sam/Lee: This is a pairing that I kind of fell out of love with, but it's still one of my favorites. Oh, boys.
Lee/Romo: He gave him a dog! OKAY?
ETA!!!: Sam/Helo So I kind of dig it. Just because I can alright? Do not question me.
I know these reasonings are far from academic, but I'm pretty sure my brain has turned to mush over the past few months so you'll have to excuse it. But what do you think? Agree? Disagree? What are your favorite pairings?
