This one kinda hurts me. I really loved the season one Cylons. I loved their wicked plot to breed Helo to Sharon, the strange hive mind thing they had going on, their creepy way of appearing in the woods, perfectly dressed, despite the torrential rain downpour. They would appear and disappear in the fleet, dropping clues and having eerie religious discussions like a whole race of college humanities undergrads. And then they would kick ass.
And then Downloaded happened. This was one where I felt pretty isolated because so many people just frigging adored this episode and I was left kinda cold. So... Boomer and Caprica Six decide to change their minds on genocide? Ok... Lil late, considering their current roles on Caprica, sweeping all the human ash out of the coffee shops....
I was willing to go along with it because everyone seemed to love it, and because I could see how having a geniune change of heart would be difficult to portray. I actually hoped that New Caprica would be about the Cylons geniunely trying to do the right thing and continuely getting shit on by humanity.
And... I was disappointed because what the Cylons *did* was the direct opposite of what they said. They weren't trying to preserve humanity at all and I don't know how anyone can honestly say the Cylons were making any real effort, what with the random executions and disgusting creepy head games....
