"Everybody knows that the war is over, everybody knows that the good guys lost" - Everybody Knows by Leonard Cohen (though I prefer the Rufus Wainwright version, personally.)
When they tell him the war is over, Bill's not quite sure what to do. He never prepared for this-he'd imagined he'd be fighting until he eventually died. And after everything he saw down there on the planet, he can't quite believe that the Cylons really left, really surrendered.
He knows they'll be back.
Of course, nobody believes him.
"Can't you just be happy?" his buddy says when they're mustered out. "War's over. We won

It’s Doc Cottle who told Caprica there’s a room for her not far from the officers’ quarters; she imagined he requested it, went through the trouble to find it for her. He’s kinder than he pretends to be. Kinder than Saul, her mind supplied, and she pictured Ellen with him in their quarters, their lives untouched.
That was uncalled for, she chastised herself. Saul had loved Liam almost as much as she had. He’d have to send away the few tiny outfits they had collected, the miniature socks and the one miniscule hat that Caprica had so loved to admire.
“It will get better,” Cottle had told her gruffly, though he looked like he understood the jagged edges of her heartbreak. Ishay was more efficient, offering her medication without commentary, but her hands were gentle and her eyes were soft. The infirmary seemed quieter.
She moved into her new room to find her few possessions waiting, folded neatly on the bed. She’s more alone here than she ever was in her cell.
"I'm a man of my convictions, call me wrong, call me right But I bring my better angels to every fight You may not like where I'm going, but you sure know where I stand Hate me if you want to, love me if you can."
