Morning, peeps.

Pledging Post

Thought you guys might be interested to know that if we managed to get everyone who has pledged so far (and we still have two days to go) up to their maximum pledges by writing enough fic, then we would raise $1182. And that's not counting the people who have not set a maximum pledge ( Read more... )

Hee! Well, that's what these little games are for - trying out things you might never have tried before :)

I think this is lovely. Curious Caprica Six, wanting to experience things for real instead of just conjuring them in a projection, and trying to see new ways to push forward for her people.

She lets one of the Leobens chivalrously usher her out of the pod, then immediately regrets it.

They're all disappointed, of course, but none of the faces around her register the leaden sense of loss that drops through her gut. She turns her back on them all and walks away from the water toward a ragged pack of trees on the dunes.

She escapes their silence into real quiet. It's warmer farther from the water; the air is dusty and still. She slides a hand up the trunk of the nearest tree and revels in the scratch against her palm.

The first time green pools against the gray sky, she thinks she's hallucinating, poisoned by this toxic planet. But she looks up again, and blinks away the deja vu that's fogged her brain since she woke up in the nebula.

This, she realizes, is what memory feels like. She snaps off a handful of bark and wrestles down a small smile as she turns back to the others.

Well, she had, when she was a little tiny baby, Mommy said, but she didn't remember it at all, not outside and not the other lady who Mommy said had taken care of her when Mommy and Daddy couldn't ( ... )

This is sweet. I like her thought processes. They're both very young and a bit wise, much like many children.

Cavil waved way yet another bloodsucking, disease-carrying, damned parasite. Insects, second most irritating thing the universe ever came up with. He felt a slight tickling on his cheek and slapped. His hand came away with steak of blood and the mangled body of one of the bloodsuckers. "Got you, you little prick ( ... )
