work and other work

At work, we're still waiting to hear what (if any) funding we'll have to keep going. We're not having to wait on paychecks right now, it's not that dire, but I sure would like to know something. However, as long as the status quo holds, I'll keep doing my work and reading up on random technical subjects I'm interested in that might have some relevance to work. Plus other stuff I want to read... but that's another post. I'm not particularly bothered by not knowing (yet) where we stand on the issue, but it is slowing us down, when we should really be moving fast right now.

Not at work, earlier this week edolnx and I went up to Dallas to move our rack from the old data center to the new data center. Same company, but they bought a new facility, and built it out as something approximating a real data center (instead of a converted bank with some iffy diesel generators on the side and a crappy power grid all around). We got into Bedford around midnight, slept, and then spent 11 hours taking everything down, moving it, and putting it all back up. Our IPKVM died in the transition, but everything else seemed to go swimmingly (if long). We got back into Austin around midnight that night.

Through out the week, I've had neck and shoulder pain; going to see a massage therapist yesterday helped to some extent, but what seemed to actually have the biggest impact was moving my keyboard/mouse/monitors around at work a bit. Today I actually didn't feel much pain the whole day... which seems like a good thing. I've got another appointment on Monday with the massage therapist, which combined with changes in how I'm oriented will be the end of that story.
