Overall damage to the car was not too bad. Most of the right side has to be either replaced or dents popped out and repainted; a fair bit of trim has to be replaced; the hood, roof, and trunk have to have the dents popped out and repainted; and the front and rear windshields have to be replaced. Since I'm driving one of the most common relatively inexpensive cars in the country, that doesn't come out too bad... about $4,400 all told. Of that, I'm responsible for $499, and the check they gave me for the rest has to be cosigned by the lienholder, which I expect won't happen.
So, repair it is. Resale value takes a hit, but I wasn't planning on selling the car when it had much value left anyway; now that's pretty much a sure thing.
