she finds ANOTHER NOTE in her dance bag

Wait. How'd they put it IN her bag; it's locked?!

Oops, it was wedged in the padlock. I'm not even sure how THAT is accomplished, but anyway.

The mind boggles. That sounds like a huge padlock with like, a two foot long key.

There are parts in a ballet that can be rehearsed without Aurora!

Exactly - and it doesn't matter if you're not familiar with the Sleeping Beauty ballet, because Jessi actually says later on in the book that she isn't even in the first act. Stupid twit.

I just don't understand why Jessi does nothing about it at first - the notes are one thing, but if someone stole and destroyed my stuff then I'd be really frigging angry, especially if they were things that were expensive to replace.

I took dance classes until the mid-1990s and they still used records. I have no idea why, but perhaps it isn't so out-of-place here.

Upon further reflection, it's probably not all that different than a dance studio using tapes now, or at least 5 years ago. Certainly it would be understandable if someone didn't want to replace years' worth of record collections. That said, occasions of these books being much more like Ann's childhood than any of ours are frequent enough that we could chalk it up to either. :)

Took ballet until the late 90s and we were indeed still using records for some things. Very interesting when we did tour jetes and landed near the record player, you could leave the room and know exactly how many people have gone by the number of skips.

Okay, I had a friggin' kidney stone earlier this summer. My mom took me to my doctor's office first - since it's really close to where I work - and they wouldn't see me because I didn't have an appointment.

Then again, I don't live in Stoneybrook, where every child sees the same doctor who miraculously doesn't have any appointments whenever there's a drop-in.

Why are the BSC so stupid? "I'm being sent threatening notes, and someone's stealing my stuff. I won't tell my teacher/parents/the cops - I don't want to worry them, and I don't want to get in trouble! Besides, they won't believe me, even with all this visual evidence!"

seriously. the same shit was pulled with kristy's mystery admirer/beware dawn/who knows what else. it's always "they'd think i was crazy!" or "they'd be mad!"
