BSC #12: CLAUDIA AND THE NEW GIRL OR WHY CAN’T WE BE FRIENDS? PART 2!Hello peeps, hope everyone’s having a good day so far. The weather appears to be confused over whether it wants to be still winter or start sliding into spring; but as long as it stays above thirty degrees, it’s all good

THEN BITCH JUST HAS TO SNOT ABOUT ARCHIE’S REAL NAME BEING ‘ARCHIBALD’! ---Well, is Archie happy with the names? I must be honest and say I don't think I'd want either name because I automatically think of Archie Bunker. Hopefully that reference is too up to date for any of the kids to know who that was. :D
I'd say the best out of the bunch are Linny and Hannie. I'm having a brainfart so I don't remember if those are actually their real names or if Linny = Leonard and Hannie = Hannah.
Also never to play outside with the boys again, for fear of her girl crush seeing her.--That's just bad. I do get the attitude of carving out time to devote to something you're very serious about. I guess I'm flighty for the rest of the stuff that takes place after school/in the summer. I understand being at a job when you need to so that's definitely not something to flake out on. I guess I'm just emphasizing freedom when possible. Want to take out an hour and sharpen every pencil in the house, okay. Want to watch MTV and dance around the room for a couple of hours, fine.
Claudia waxes poetic about how all the Cult members are THE BESTEST FRIENDS, OMG--Parts like this really do crush me. I think Claudia genuninely means this when she says it. But the actions from these girls are more like the "friends" from hell.
This ends with Claudia walking up to the Cult table; shitting her pants the whole way because she’s now ‘defected’.--This is just bad. So many notes I want to make...it wasn't until recently they started sitting together anyway, right? I feel for the friends that were basically dumped because the cult shuns outsiders. And let's face it, it wouldn't have been a pretty scene if Ashley had sat down at the BSC table.
And get this shit, she apparently can’t say the words ‘new girl’ in front of the others. This is baffling to me; is it because of Stacey and Dawn? Is it because Ashley’s right there? EXPLAIN THESE THINGS, ANN!--Another mystery! I think I would've stated Ashley's name right off the bat and then explained "the new girl" if everybody had a blank stare on their faces. They act like "new girl" is on par with calling her a cunt!
FUCKING FINALLY!! FEELING SOME ANGER ABOUT THE OTHER BITCHES ACTING LIKE SHE NEEDS TO EAT LUNCH WITH THEM EVERYDAY AND THAT THEY SHOULDN’T MAKE HER FEEL GUILTY ABOUT IT!--I'm really surprised some of the girls weren't tired of the drama earlier on. Let's call it what it is--drama. I know the type of person I am, I'm not into drama and bullshit. I wasn't even that way when I was younger. I wanted everything to go smoothly instead of life being like a damn soap opera or something like that. Drama just isn't my thing. So if you've got your mind on doing something else and you've got a "friend" nagging you/guilt tripping you into doing something you don't want to do, it just really pisses you off. I speak from experience because I know how pissed off I get.

Ashley says; ‘Bitch, you ever hear of inspiration? Fucking dumbass.’--If Claudia is such a wonderful artist, wouldn't she know this? I'm absolutely not an artist at all but I would think inspiration could come from ANYTHING and ANYWHERE.
WHO GIVES A SHIT IF THEY DID?--Yeah, do you really think you missed THAT much, Claudia?
they tell her to call if she’s going to be late--They're really acting more like her parents than her "friends"
Whatever, so Claudia says that she had so much fun with Ashley; she lost track of the time and this makes Stacey ask if ‘AS GOOD A TIME AS WHEN YOU AND I GO TO THE MALL?’--And it's stuff like this that makes me so torn. I can understand Stacey being nervous about losing her best friend considering how her NY dumped her. So yeah, Stacey has scars from what her NY friends did to her. I sympathize with that because I realize those scars aren't so easy to get rid of. But at the same time, Claudia enjoys both hobbies. She can have friends outside of the club AND still be friends with the girls in the club.
I WOULD’VE SO BEEN LIKE; ‘I DUNNO STACE; IS BLOWING SAM ON THE THIRD FLOOR AS BEN BREWER’S GHOST WATCHES BETTER THAN BLOWING PETE UNDER THE BLEACHERS? FUCK OFF WITH YOUR STUPID QUESTIONS!’ BUT I’M BITCHY LIKE THAT!--I LOVE IT!
But no, Claudia just kind of says she doesn’t know and forces herself to laugh and is it me… but is this coming off like Claudia was dating Stacey, cheated on her and is now trying to fucking play if off that Stacey found out? Because that’s the vibe I’m getting from this.--I don't think I'd be forcing myself to laugh it off instead of trying my best to defend myself about enjoying both people and both activities. Why should I be forced to choose one over the other? As for the rest, it wouldn't surprise me. There's been quite a few scenes that really seem to go in that direction. The strongest one I'm thinking about involves Mary Anne putting her arm around Dawn because she sees Kristy looking out the window at them.
WHY WAS IT SO FUCKING VITAL FOR THEM ALL TO COME TO EVERY MEETING, IF THE BOOK COULD TELL THEM WHO WAS FREE?--Goodness knows I've mocked the amount of money the girls get from babysitting and I'm unsure if any of the girls get an allowance at home. It's just a simple case of hitting Claudia where it hurts the most--financially.
IT’S YOUR FUCKING BEDROOM AND YOU CAN REALLY KILL THESE BITCHES OUT IF THEY’RE MAKING YOU FEEL SHITTY ABOUT DARING TO HAVE ANOTHER FRIEND! FUCKING HELL!--Claudia really doesn't realize the power she holds in her hands imo. Think of the changes that would have to be made if Claudia opened the door and told them all to get out and don't come back. They'd have to tie up a main phone line or somebody else would have to get a separate phone line, fliers would have to be changed, clients notified, etc.
Enjoyed the snark! :)

She really doesn't, does she? I always wish she would for once when she worried about getting the Look from Kristy to realize how much power she had? When Kristy's giving her the Look why not fire back with telling Kristy to find a new place for the club. How does she never think of that? Not even when she's mad she never tells them to get out of her room. She let's them have their meetings, use her phone and shares her food with them even being nice enough to get crackers for Stacey and Dawn out of her own pocket. It would have made for a very good plot.

I still stick by my theory that the writers had some friendships that gave them a very distorted view of how friends act/what friendship means, etc. But I also want to toss this theory out. Ever have a friend that cuts back hanging out with you because they've got a boyfriend/girlfriend and they're spending all their time with that person? So yeah, my mind goes in that direction. "I've got a bunch of girlfriends now and I just can't hang out with the rest of you anymore."
I realize it's still disturbing no matter what the explanation is--controlling and abusive shouldn't have a normal label stamped on it.

These books are really pissing me off to even read these days; because some just put in a bad place.

Oh hell I couldn't agree more. Especially when you get a frantic phone call from someone you lightly label as an acquaintance, and they're freaking out because their best friends second cousin (whom they've never even met, spoke of, etc) got into a car accident and broke their arm. Get over it. It's fine to feel badly about it, but since you've never met them, never known them at all, never spoke with them and have never mentioned them before IN YOUR LIIIIIFE quit acting like it's making YOUR life turn upside down. You're being an attention whore and want people to worry about YOU. (Yes, this shit has really happened before.) Or when someone walks into the room with a very grave expression, saying "we have a problem" and the problem is something absolutely ridiculous, like the fucking lead on their mechanical pencil broke and we're out of refills. QUIT TRYING TO DRAG ME DOWNNNNN, geez.

The 'we have a problem' thing pisses me off too. I fucking HATE when someone calls me and the first thing they say is 'there's a problem' or something of that nature; because my first instinct is to worry. Don't bitch about stupid shit when there's bigger problems in the world or in life. You're healthy, there's a roof over your head, there's food and heat... then you've already doing better than most. A fucking pencil being out of lead is annoying, NOT A PROBLEM!
