You don't need to apologize for taking a long time. I'll go for months without snarking and I don't even have the excuse of being busy. I just didn't feel like it. I'm rolling my eyes at Claudia so much. Mac constantly tells her to slow down, but does she listen? No, because a fucking thirteen year old knows better than the expert. What irritates me is that Mac isn't even saying anything remotely harsh. I get being upset at criticism because I'm a huge baby. But in the grand scheme of things, slow down isn't harsh. It's not like he said that everyone was just coddling her and she had no skill. He just said to slow down.
I liked to write as a child and I got good grades on my assignments. That didn't mean I was exempt from criticism. Sometimes I would phrase something poorly and my teacher would tell me so. Sometimes the scenario I wrote was unrealistic. Sometimes I needed to get to the point in my essay. Claudia's getting butthurt over Mac telling her to slow down is like my getting offended when my teachers told me I didn't indent properly. I could never do that on the first paragraph. Mac isn't insulting Claudia's skills. Why doesn't she just slow down? If I were Mac, I'd think she was half-assing it. Besides, even if you are good at something, you can still get overconfident and make stupid mistakes by rushing through it. Enjoyed the snark.

I really can't remember the character but this whole drawing as fast as possible made me think of one of the kids from the Wayside series.

I guess in my mind I view people with art skills as being perfectionists. To the point of not being able to rush it, Want to take it as slowly as possible and study what I've done so I can fix the things I'm not happy with. It's not like it's a speed competition where I have to draw this in 4 minutes.

That's just what I thought of too! Her name was Bebe.

she drew like hundreds of pictures in less than an hour or something! I actually have two Wayside books! My awesome Husband bought those for me, and some other 'classics': 3 Merivale Mall books, some Barthe Declements, soem Christopher Pike books and others.

I got told many times in school to take my time with essays and stories and this was by the same teachers/people who said I had talent as a writer. It sucked, but I did slow down and now I'm like my harshest critic. Even with snarks, I reread them and think they could be better.
