"I was going to meet a real TV star! Every week people all over the country watched P.S. 162 and every week they laughed at Waldo and his silly science. Hmm. It suddenly occurred to me that maybe Derek would be able to help me with my science homework."--*slams head on desk*
Since she's a fucking idiot, she expected Derek to look like his character.--Holy shit, this is really happening. Yeah, your original point about Mallory doesn't understand fiction and Jessi doesn't understand acting is on point. But the sad thing is I don't know whether to mock this point more or not. A lot of people irl make the same mistake Jessi is doing. Whether people address an actor or actress by their character name or sometimes think what happened on a tv show or movie must've happened irl. I really don't know how the actors/actresses manage to hold temper in check. I guess in a joking manner say that things are definitely rough for my character and I'm thankful I don't really have to go through that while thinking what a dumbass the person is for not being able to tell reality from a storyline.
I'm not so much supportive of fighting, but I sure as hell support letting kids defend themselves!--Yeah, I'm with you. Turning the other cheek or pretending to ignore them just doesn't work in a lot of cases imo. I think too many people think on the straight and narrow and think "Oh, you just don't react and they'll get bored and find something else to do." Nope. Just nope.
Part of being a dancer on stage is acting, complete with costumes. If any single character in this entire series should know that and really understand it, it's the one who's regularly on stage. So that's why Jessi get a mock-point. I could give a very slight pass to anyone else, but not to the person who is trained in ho to use stage makeup to different effects.
