shit, remembered another question!

how many times has kristy's father been married?! cuz in kristy's great idea she mentions him leaving her mom, moving to california&GETTING REMARRIED. so since he gets married, yet again, in the friends forever series, that'd either mean he got married three times&divorced twice (its kristy's dad, so i'm assuming the second marriage ended in divorce) OR, this is yet another huge-ass continuity issue. anyone else notice this mess???

thanks.

Good questions, and I look forward to seeing the responses, but this is probably better suited to the babysittersclub community than the snark community. :)

Also, I think Jessi had two birthdays or something.

for real? wow, considering the apparent "bible" they had for the series, you'd think they would've had less inconsistant moments like these. can't even be bothered to research her own books. lolz!

There might be legitimate reasons why certain things changed around but I honestly think it boils down to laziness of not doing research tied into not caring. I've mentioned before I'm a huge Little House on the Prairie fan and the tv show has some jawdropping examples of what I was just talking about above. Season 9 had Albert and Charles coming back to Walnut Grove because Albert had fell into the wrong crowd and Charles was hoping that getting him back into a calmer/quieter place would straighten him out. The end of that episode talks about how Albert came back to town a few years later to be the town doctor. One of the movies in the 10th season has a storyline where Albert is sick with leukemia and he won't be alive in order to come back to the town to become the doctor. There was barely any time passing by between the second part of "Home Again" and that movie and they already ditched on the original storyline.

the hell? i watched little house on the prairie growing up but i didn't notice all of that then. i must've missed a bunch of stuff&also its just been a looooong time since i saw the show. only episode i've seen somewhat recently was the albert-is-an-addict episode, where they go bizarroland at the end&make it almost like an AA meeting before its time or some weirdness. also, watching him kicking morphine or whatever it was scared the living daylights out of me as a child. o_O one of the most memorable lines from the whole series (to me, anyway) was albert talking to pa&saying "i'm a bastard cuz i ain't got no pa" (i believe that's right/close). damn kid! that, the drugs&ya get leukemia&killed off? someone hated albert!

Didn't MA's mom have her name changed from Abigail to Alma?

i did seem to remember it being MA's mother. i know her name was alma in mary anne saves the day (i just read that book today), but maybe it went from alma to abigail?

YES! MA's mom went from Abigail in the early books to Alma later. Also, supposedly Lisa and Seth (Karen Brewer's mother and stepfather) were originally called Sheila and Kendall, though I've only ever seen that on lj and not in actual books. Oh, and Dawn's grandmother was Rita in one book and Grace in another, but I don't remember which ones.

oh! i'mma have to look through a copy of mary anne saves the day that wasn't a new cover reprint, that could be why my copy said alma instead of abigail - it was a copy from when they re-did the cover art&design, so maybe they changed that glaring inconsistancy with the name. thanks!!

1. Edie being a nickname for Elizabeth is actually a thing. I don't get it.

2. Demure Asian lady trope.

3. I always wondered about that, too. I also think Dawn was lucky that she didn't end up with a NatGeo special considering who taped it, lol.

weird! i've never heard that, know it can be a shortened form of edith, but elizabeth?! the more you know...lol.

ah, figured it was something like that with how ann wrote mimi. *rolls eyes* well, she did love her some tropes&stereotypes!

haha, seriously. oh sharon, you crazy pothead, you.

I'll say I don't get the Edie from Elizabeth either. I've heard of Liz like Liz Taylor or Liz Wakefield. Or Beth from Little House on the Prairie. Laura's calling Almanzo by the nickname of Manly and he wanted to give her a nickname and he came up with Beth since her middle name was Elizabeth.

This isn't the first name that trips me up. I don't see how Jack could be a nickname for John.

yeah, i still don't get edie from elizabeth either.

i thought almanzo calling laura "beth" was cute. i always got second hand embarrasment when she called him "manly" though. lol. i've heard liz, lizzie, beth, for elizabeth but never, ever edie. i have a cousin named elizabeth&she's always been lizzie or liz. one of my younger sisters has elizabeth as a middle name, but has never gone by it at all or gotten any nicknames from it that i know of. but i've known a couple of elizabeths&they always went by liz or beth, pretty much. i honestly think they just changed kristy's mom's name completely, but i can't say for sure.

jack from john? wouldn't it be more like jack from jackson or something? i don't get that one either.
