Also, the super-racist Aryan Nation country club hired a caretaker named Mr. Kawaja? I can't decide if that sounds more like a mocking parody of a Polish name, an Asian or a sub-Saharan African one.
Also, how did they know Nikii's friend was Jewish? Was he or she wearing a yarmulke? Was he male and swimming in the nude? Or are we back in Dickensian England and he has a long hooked nose and a lisp? And why didn't these murderous election-rigging school protection rioting white supremacist gangstas do more than stare at the Jewish friend?
In the other racism book, the grown-ups all tear up and stare at each other and cry about how they "thought it was over." I thought they were saying that they thought racism had been abolished from the earth and were surprised it still existed. If another writer had written both books, I would have assumed that the allusions in the earlier book were actually to the aforementioned scary gangster country club.

And for real, Jessi is sitting right there during this whole discussion and gets no dialogue besides her "sprucing up" line. It's bizarrely evasive.
I think Mr. Kawaja is meant to be Asian.
