Karen's Doll 1-10

I haven’t read a Karen book in years, and with good reasons. First off, I only own about eight of them. Second, reading it more than once is like a slow form of torture. But I was browsing through my book box looking for stuff to snark, and came across this one, with a gem of a tagline.

I must just have been a weird kid, because I never did the "married" thing. Or had conversations with my toys.

Stonybrook's "small town" status is really debatable, as it is. Though, maybe the hospital is in Stamford, which is described as being a bigger city and not very far away. Eh, who knows. Landmarks fitting the story, and all.

Haha, yeah. Except you don't need to qualify the sentence with the "with nice things". Karen's just irresponsible.

Until the end of the year, his other friend and I would be asked every now and then if I was sure he didn't mention a trip coming up, or moving, or something.

If you don't mind me asking - and I understand if it it wasn't good and you'd rather not talk about it - did you ever find out what happened, or at least what might have happened?

My parents next door neighbors did something very similar - they just quickly moved out overnight. They always had new things and cars that they most likely couldn't afford, so we kind of wondered if they weren't fleeing from a collection agency or a loan shark.

My four (almost five) year old son has a wife, a little girl who used to go to daycare with him. They are adorable together. They both outgrew the daycare and are in different schools now, but her mom and I still get them together every few weeks and we just signed them up for gymnastics together. If you ask him if he has a girlfriend, he answers "no. I have a wife." So I guess it's not uncommon.
Also, he said they were going to charge people thirty cents to get into their wedding.

Can I just say that your brother having so many "wives" makes me think he was all for polygamy before the rest of us heard about it. Props to him, yo!

I "married" my best friend in prep, and then in grade one, and had to keep marrying him because another girl in my class liked him too (bitch :P), but he was my best friend until we drifted apart before high school.

My friends and I in primary school used to act as though our Beanie Kids were alive and could interact, but then again we had some pretty bizarre games.
