Ahh, the later books, when the ghosties decided that these were not characters but personality traits with human names. I'm not snarking the entire book, but I was reading this one yesterday and found this small passage hilarious.

"We were halfway through our Monday BSC meeting, later that day. We'd handed over our dues to Stacey, who was balancing ( Read more... )

oh, i know. it gets so terrible later in the series. i like to randomly read different books, so i'll read an early one where the characters are sort of believable. and then i read a later one, and they're just stereotypes. it's friggin annoying. :(

If MA were doing something with the record book, I'd think it probably fits, because she's usually seen as diligent and "let's get the work done"-ish.

I'm totally surprised that Claudia hasn't ruined an outfit or a bedspread or her carpet from her candy-hoarding. I mean, she hides things like candy bars and taffy too - those would be a bit messy if someone actually sat on them, or they went through the wash by mistake, or they melted in the heat.

I remember one book where someone sees a brown smear on Claudia's bed and is like "ew, what's that?" and Claud's like "eh, it's just chocolate." And she doesn't even think to change her sheets. She just pulls her covers over it to hide it.

Yeah Claudia's so, um... special, she hasn't quite mastered toilet training yet. Makes for a great book though. Maybe even a super special or mystery. Mmhmm, i can see it now - 'Claudia and the Mystery of the Adult Sized Diapers'. Hey - I'd read it!

I'm glad I stopped reading when I did (shortly after Ann stopped writing them, I later found out). This is just sad.

Almost forgot: I love how they refer to adding $7 to the total as "balancing our accounts."

It gets worse as it goes on, huh? I didn't get to read much of the later books, but that description...haha. All it needs is MA crying and it would be golden.
