OK, but perhaps Kent McCord is no snack fairy?

This may be the fourth time for some of you reading about this, so I'm sorry for that, but I had the great pleasure of hanging out with danceswithwords and asta77 this past weekend, and it was every bit as much fun as I'd hoped it would be. They are both as snarky and smart and fun in person as they are online... I can't remember the last time I laughed as hard as I ( Read more... )

"coals to Newcastle"? While I can infer what that means from the surrounding sentence, where did you get that saying from? Is that a literature thing? Heh.

Hee! I had no idea where it came from, actually... I found the following info at www.phrases.org.uk:

Meaning

To do something pointless and superfluous.

Origin

Newcastle in England was a well known coal mining area and the first coal exporting port. Taking coal there was an architypally pointless activity, on a par with selling snow to Eskimos.

So... there you go. And now I must ask you... what the hell is that icon from?! I feel like I should recognize it, and yet... no.

You mean what episode is it from? It's from the beginning of "Lovesick Ass." I made a bunch of new Wonderfalls icons last night. Hee.

Ohhhhhhh. Yay icons! Somehow I started thinking that the monkey looked like one of the aliens from The Fifth Element, and based on that, I couldn't make the rest of the icon form into anything coherent. Even though the "inappropriate touching" was very familiar. Hee.

Your puppydog is certifiably awesome.

And you have to tell me what you think of this season of Veronica Mars so far. My TiVO to-do list tells me the next new episode is 1/25.

Okay, I feel like a dope for not knowing what "coals to Newcastle" means.

But I, for one, would love to hear about your mixed thoughts on last week's episodes, since it provoked some rather mixed feelings in me, as well.

Hee! I found a definition/explanation for SDW here.

As for my BSG thoughts, I probably need to rewatch, but looking at your entry, I had most of the same issues that you did, except I'd add that Lee's little speech to Kara about trust seemed to come out of absolutely nowhere, and that Kara's speech about Cain at the end seemed a little extreme, too. And there's also the fact that Adama apparently didn't tell Lee or Kara about Cain killing the civilians on the Scylla, which theoretically would have made them understand better why Adama and Roslin felt so strongly that Cain should be removed ( ... )
