[This post had caught his interest immediately, but he didn't reply, instead watching people's responses with interest. It's a confession that's incredibly relevant to him, after all.

Derek can't resist the urge to talk to her, that maybe the conversation will end up like the one he'd had with Alex. But he doesn't want to do it over the journals, so when he finally does give in, he heads up to where she said she'd be. He pauses, scenting the air, but - he can't smell 'cat,' not like he had with Alex.]

Uh. Hello?

[Maybe this was a bad idea. Maybe she's not even here anymore.]

[Bryn was still there, playing to try and get past her slight irritability at Hawke's trolling and implying she's flat-chested (which she is).

Bryn didn't have any extra special senses in her human form, so she only became aware of Derek when he spoke up. She looked up from the harpsichord and tilted her head to the side.]

Hello...can I help you?

[He takes a few steps closer, slightly unsure.]

Are you Bryn?

[He looks uncertain, and so Bryn keeps her smile on her face, trying to be reassuring.]

Yes, I am. I take it you saw my last record?

[After all, she had told people to seek her here if they had questions...perhaps he had some for her?]

[He relaxes a bit when not only does he have the right person, but she's still smiling at him. Of course, part of that is because he's assuming that - like Alex - she'd been able to tell what he is.]

Yeah, I did. You don't smell like a cougar, though.

[Bryn's smile froze a moment, and she tilted her head to the side curiously.]

Well I don't when I'm in this form, though I couldn't really say for sure. My senses aren't any stronger while human, unfortunately.

[She has no reason to expect that this guy is a were or shapeshifter, and assumes his questions are part of mere curiosity.]

[Weird. He's almost a little jealous, since that would totally solve his problems with animals being weird around him.]

That's kind of cool, because I-

[And then he cuts off as the rest of that sinks in, and he realizes that means she probably doesn't know he's a werewolf. He's not quite sure how to act, now, and he ends up a bit tense again.]

Were you - you don't mind questions?

[She doesn't ask him what he had been about to say, but shakes her head briefly.]

No I don't mind. I had a friend who had a million and well, I figured that he probably wouldn't be the only one. Ask what you like.

[He shifts his weight slightly, uncomfortable, but less tense when she says she doesn't mind questions. He's making an effort to choose his words carefully, both so he doesn't bombard her with questions, and so he doesn't end up unintentionally pissing her off.]

You can change whenever you want, and you don't lose control on the full moon? Were you born a, um. Shifter?

[He's still not quite used to the term, since there's only werewolves where he's from.]

[Bryn is incredibly difficult to piss off, and she's pleased that anyone sought her out at all. She's not used to anyone taking an interest in her or anything about her, really.]

Yes, though changing too often here is...difficult. I don't have to change with a full moon and I don't ever lose control because it's just...always me.

[She paused a moment before continuing to answer him.]

As for whether I was born a shifter...I don't know. I changed the first time unexpectedly a few years ago, and there just aren't shapeshifters or weres or anything like that from my Earth. Or at least not as far as I knew. My parents certainly weren't expecting it so...if it was something hereditary even they didn't know about it. I'm sorry I don't really have the answer myself. I don't know what caused it in the first place.

[Derek would be pleased to know that, considering he seems to piss people off easily without really even trying. He listens to her silently, absorbing everything she says with interest.]

I guess that means you weren't attacked by a cougar right before it happened, or anything? Were you adopted?

[He pauses briefly.]

You've never met another shifter before?

[Bryn shook her head, no to all questions.]

No cougar attack. I was definitely not adopted and...no, I'd never met anyone else with similar abilities before I came here. If there are others like me back home, then they were not out publicly and I never came across them.

[Which isn't all that surprising, considering she was trying to stay as far off the radar as she could manage up in the mountains.]

Were there people like me back where you lived?

[He nods at her response, then considers his own for a moment.]

Kind of. There's shifters, but as far as I know, there's only werewolves. I never met a cat shifter until I came here. But - no one was out publicly where I'm from, either. The supernatural community kept itself hidden from people who weren't part of it.

[He's just - going to leave that there. If she asks, he'll be honest, but he's not sure he's ready to flat out say what he is.]
