It seems I've settled into updating once a week with some degree of success. Unfortunately my memory doesn't agree. I sit here and try to think back to what I got up to the previous week and most of the time my mind is blank! I know I don't live the most exciting of lives but I do actually do things but you'd never believe it when I sit in front of the computer trying to entertain any of you who bother to read this. Of course if I was being good I’d just update when something happened .... Ha, as if that's going to happen!
I do remember that last week I spent a lot of my time organising myself for a holiday David and I are about to go on. A holiday to which I’m two minds about.
The holiday came about from my parents calling me up asking if I wanted a free holiday. They had booked a holiday and then decided they didn't want to go on it anymore and would we like it. It seemed stupid to say no to a free holiday (we'd have to pay for flights) especially as my parents stay in very nice places like
here. I'm in two minds as Tenerife is not a place David or I would have chosen to go to, mainly because it's hot and neither of us do hot! Ah well, it's time off work and I’m sure we'll just find a bar and get drunk :D
I had last weekend off work to celebrate a friend’s birthday in Leeds. We went to a restaurant called
Georgetown. Unfortunately I don't think they were used to dealing with large parties. The setting was beautiful but the service dreadful and the food mediocre.
We had the following:
~ Appetisers ~
Curry Puff ~ Puff pastry with a chicken and potato filling, served with a mixed leaf salad.
Poh Pia ~ A popular Chinese hors d'oeuvre comprising a fine selection of vegetables, prawns and meat wrapped in a light pancake served with a sweet chilli dip
~ Second Courses ~
Udang Bakar Kering ~ Pan fried spicy jumbo prawns in their shells ~ deliciously succulent in its uniquely blended red onion sauce. Served with soft roasted parotta.
Laksa Lemak ~ Shanghai noodles with strips of chicken, prawns, beansprouts, toufu and Chinese greens in a spicy coconut curry soup ~ served with sambal belachan and cut limes as in Malacca
~ Main Courses ~
Nasi Goreng ~ Fragrant Malay stir fried rice with prawns, chicken and seasonal vegetables in a light soya sauce, garnished with Omelette strips.
Claypot ~ Chicken, pork, Chinese green leaf spinach, prawns, tomato, and dried mushrooms topped with beansprouts, simmered in a claypot, flavoured with chicken stock and soya, and served with rice
~ Dessert ~
The service was so slow it was too late!
Despite the restaurant we had a good night. In fact I had too much of a good night and paid the price the next day. Ugh.
