It's been a long week - one of my regular assessment panels yesterday, with all the prep, nervous energy and looooong Teams time that implies. Followed by All The Admin, which will keep me going most of next week, after which I have an actual week off. I've often done that in the spring and summer after the other panels but never had enough leave left to do it in November before. We'll see how it goes (I'm heading to Bath, of course - it is my default holiday!). Meanwhile, I am wiped, and oof. Nothing planned for tomorrow, but I'm going to see an exhibition on Sunday so I shall have to wake up at some point.
Let's have a bit of meme for November:
1. Have you ever been caught outdoors away from shelter during a thunderstorm?
Yes, though not ever really badly - there was always somewhere I could head towards, even if it wasn't handy. The worst storms I've ever been in were in London, though, and they were quite bad enough. One meant I spent 25 minutes waiting for it to clear, gave up, and walked the 5 minutes to my haircut appointment (I was late, inevitably) turning up so wet they went at me with a dozen towels before letting me sit down.
2. Did you ever build furniture forts as a child?
Yes, though not all that often. My parents had a modular sofa thing made of foam blocks in our living room, and they were completely manipulable once I was about 6 or 7, so perfect for building structures when I fancied it. I mostly used them ruthlessly as gym equipment, but they could be forts too.
3. Do you use any medicines daily?
Only the pill.
4. When was the last time you used a disposable camera?
I'm fairly sure it was at a friend's wedding, but a long time back - 2008 maybe? They take such awful pictures, I know the wedding couple were disappointed.
5. When was the last time you flew on a plane?
It was 24 September 2019, Gatwick to Venice. Which sounds like I flew a lot pre-covid. 2019 was by far my most aeroplaney year since 2001, as I took a return flight to Spain in the spring too. I got the train back from Venice, via Padova and Zurich. I think I might need to fly next year (to Dublin, for a work thing), which is about the only bit of travel I have any confidence in.
6. How many first cousins do you have?
7. What’s the longest period of time you’ve gone without sleep?
8. Did the house you grew up in have a big yard?
9. What has been the most difficult class you’ve ever taken?
