Yuletide letter
Dear Yuletider
Hooray, first of all! I'm so glad you're on board. I love a bit of Yuletide. The main thing to say is I've always enjoyed when people write what they love, not necessarily to a tight prompt. I put a few ideas in my signup, but go with your own instincts.
I'm just giving you some pointers here in case you like that to get inspired, but know that I love most stories that people enjoyed writing, and I'm super easy to please. I love tropey fic, documentation, character studies, wild AUs, pre-series, fill in the blanks, happy, sad, any level of romance or sex that interests you (gen/het/m/m or f/f or poly). I love stories that are really firmly placed in a real-world spot or time, but I also love wild world-building and fantasty. All I want is a story that's true to the characters, I guess.
DNWs: I prefer stories that don't focus completely on dark themes, whether that's non-con, slavery, torture etc, though those are fine as background. I also prefer no character bashing for people not specified in the prompts - I tend to enjoy these worlds in the round, apart from outright canon villains. I do have a hard DNW on any kind of skin issue, from rashes to injuries to dragon scales - I am phobic about this and can't read it. But I think that's my only big no.
As for the fandoms I've requested... it's been a weird year for me, with nowhere near the kind of reading or other fannish engagement I usually have. I've been listening to a loooot of podcasts though, and two of my requests are therefore RPF for podcasts I've loved. Really different energy but both casts of engaged, funny people dealing with life as best they can. So I would love more of the same, whether you fancy writing part of a podcast, an off-air moment, or a completely AU scenario where these guys come together in a different scenario, with their characters on full display. On the offchance you watch OGWN and Drunk Women Solving Crime, crossovers are completely welcome. For RPF I'd rather not have much of their known outside family life come into it - or only to the degree in the podcasts, where we know who is coupled up or has kids, but they aren't characters with details. If you'd like to pair up cast members, go wild - for either pod, any combo could work.
The thing I have been reading, though, is my third request. Of all the KJ Charles I've loved since the pandemic started, Will and Kim's world is top of the list. And I love the balance brought by Phoebe and Maisie. Maybe you want to get into someone's head - apart from Will, we don't really get into what motivates people so much. Do you want to tell the story of Phoebe and Maisie in Paris? Or do you want to think of another case - maybe something less traumatic and family-based? I love me a bit of admin fic, so Secret Service behind the scenes always welcome (I bet Phoebe doesn't love it). I'd rather stick with canon pairings here, though if either couple wanted a third I'd be open to that. I do love this time period too, so I'd rather stay in their timeline, but make them as old as you like...
