I am totally with you on the Regency romances, my usual accompaniment is crime novels set in the 1920s with female leads - I think it was a diet of Miss Marple books in my youth. Definitely the Dairy Milk with Hobnobs of the book world.

And there's nothing wrong at all with them. So long as we don't mistake them for real life, but I don't think that's too likely!

(Have I recommended you the Shedunnit podcast? It has been very good listening in lockdown: http://shedunnitshow.com/)

We re-watched Death In Paradise during the worst of the pandemic lock down just because it was light and easy and formulaic. I think it's just what we needed at the time. I might start Midsommer Murders if I can find that from the beginning....

I've had so much Midsomer on in the background this year. And Poirot, even. It helps with switching the brain off!

Oh, yes, I agree about pleasant and predictable. I have been watching Midsommer Murders, Lewis, Death in Paradise, Poirot, Miss Marple, and all those other nice, friendly murder series.

Yes, all the above. Even Midsommer which I have never really got into has seemed very good company this year!

(I've just recommended Voirrey the Shedunnit podcast which I'm not sure I've mentioned on LJ. It's very good and rather fascinating: http://shedunnitshow.com/)

Thank you for that rec. I went and had a listen to the last episode which was really interesting.

I have never really got into podcasts, preferring on the whole live radio, but since I was stuck, busy in the kitchen all day it was easy to listen. And having tried one, I went on to the Moth Radio Hour and spent a happy afternoon. I would not have done that without your rec.
