Simple PC Games

I've recently been looking for a bunch of simple little games to play on my computer that don't really require sound. I want something that I can play while listening to music or a podcast. Avernum 4 from Spiderweb Software really fits the bill even though I've only played through the demo. That game is a pretty simple but decently entertaining RPG that follows the standard format of creating a party, sending them on quests, exploring dungeons, killing monsters, and finding treasures.

I've also discovered a free, text-based MMOG called Unification Wars that looks like it operates in your Internet browser. I have yet to create an account for it because I tend to be wary of MMOGs, but I'm tempted by it because it looks like it plays like a pen and paper strategy game my dad introduced me to called Starlord.

If anyone else has any suggestions for simple games that I would be able to play on my PC, I would appreciate them. I'm thinking mostly free games that are not the standard boring ones that automatically come with Windows, such as Solitaire or Minesweeper. Standard little RPGs are always welcome. Maybe Tom and I could engage in some online multiplayer gaming again and drag in Sarah as well as anyone else who is into that sort of thing.
