Valkyrie wings... ideas?

So...  I'm planning this major valkyrie costume.  I had the idea that I could also make a pair of wings to go with it so I could wear it to the faerie festival/s.  I'm trying to decide what medium to make the wings out of

If you wanted to go Highly Stylized

You could do "Fehu" runes as wings. You use the stem of fehu as the part that goes along the spine, and then the two upward pointed lines as the "wings"

If you did annodized aluminum chain, and used something like a strong wire, or thing pipe (or silver painted wood dowel, you could have the "wing" portion be between the two upward stems. I'll draw something up quick, and try to post it here.

as I think about it, I'm thinking wood dowels painted metal would be good for costume, and a lot lighter. You could affix the chainmail to the wood dowel with simple staples.

Also, if you wanted to, you could also take the two "long stems, and merge them into one.

I'm not sure about the stylized rune idea, but the chain wings could be very cool...

I'd probably do a wire frame because it's sturdier and if I'd do the wings in aluminum links the overall weight shouldn't be TOO bad.

THough you could also do a big Algiz and hang the wings off it.

In the ancient writings, they were described as feather cloaks. You could probably use a pattern if real feathers would be too unwieldy.

This is horribly un-RenFest, but how about mylar. It's already shiny and since it's very light the frame wouldn't have much to support.

If it was SCA I'd be more concerned about authenticity. Ren faire is more open to fantasy costumes. Faerie festival is PURE fantasy... so anything goes.
