The setup:
There is a table read for a television show. There is a seating chart and a PA has placed the name plates according the seating chart he was given by casting.
Way 1:
Call comes from downstairs for the PA. “I think you messed up the seating, why is Actor A near the end?” So the PA brings down the seating chart and explains he’s not at the end, he’s in the middle (which he clearly was). Continues to get crap from his boss.
Way 2:
Shortly before the meeting one of the casting people is looking at the placards. That same PA is there. The casting person is confused, says something may not be right. He thinks Actor B and Actor C are supposed to be sitting across from Actor A. He asks if there was a revision of the seating chart and would like to see the seating chart the PA used. The PA gets the chart and the table is set up as the chart specified. The casting guy tanks the PA for a job well done.
Both of these situations happened to me today. Guess which one of these people, after Friday, i will NEVER work for again.
argh!
