just realxing here for a few minutes while I recover from a nice cool shower.
I had been having alot of trouble as of late with schickens flying over the gate to the pen and going lord knows wher to lay their eggs and get all in the garden and generally make a mess of things.
I drove in about 8 more T posts and ran a section of chicken wire about 80' long and now the fence is about 7" tall, so hopefully that will stop their desire to run all over the place and get out.
I also put sections of wire up over the gates, so no more escapeing that way either.
Now all I can do is wait and watch to see if they get out, and then watch em to see where it is so I can fix that also. One of the female ducks got tore up from all the roosters, so i finally had enough of all the fighting and i wasnt gonna let the other suffer cause i didnt wanna take care of the problem. So over a 2 day period I reduced the number of roosters by 12, plus the 5 already in the freezer.
I still have about 6 roosters left in with about 60 hens, plus 23 ducks.
Im watching them, and if i see anymore trouble, ill have to thin em out some more.
For the time being, things have really settled down in there , and theducks are out now and playing in their water troughs, splashing and carrying on like crazy.
i am still working on the nursery part, but the hen must have gotten chased off her nest too much cause she wont set anymore. but its best for me to go ahead and finish the spot so whoever does sit next time will have a private place. All I need as far as supplies goes is just a few more preassure treated 2x4s for the roof.
Right now it looks like crap, but itll get better as i paint some of it and get the tin put around the back half.
ill still be working more this evening, including makeing some more silicone toys :)
