Honestly, the final judgement on that will come once Collateral is released on DVD. Then I'll watch both films, do a serious Jeffrey comparison of the two films, and make my final decision. But I will say that the film impressed me to the point of really making me question the Top Five list immediately after and for several days after viewing it. That's a rather impressive feat, coming from me. For those who get the chance to watch it, do so. I've never thought of Tom Cruise as a very great actor. He's a method actor at best, and not a very phenomenal one. But when he stated he wanted to start breaking away from his traditional roles, he wasn't kidding. He started with that in Minority Report, and showed his darker more desparate side for a few tense moments on screen. In Collateral, he takes the darker aspects of his psyche to a whole new level for him, and even perhaps for Mann. As for Jamie Foxx, I couldn't stand him before, but his performance in such a serious and dramatic role was a very welcome surprise. I'm even curious to see how he works as Ray Charles now.

However, after seeing Collateral, it looks like I have an equal to my former king, and possibly even a successor to it.
I don't ever want to speak to you again. It was nice, but it wasn't good.
