Saturday was for climbing the tower of the Dom (cathedral), greek pizza, and the Lange Nacht der Kölner Museen. We went first to the Ludwig Contemporary Art Museum (large and fantastic), and then to Kunstwerk, an old warehouse on the wrong side of town full of artist studios open for the night to the public. As Robin said, it was quite a contrast in how one relates to art and artist. We ate veggie curry, drank Becks, beer of choice for the German hipster, and wandered in and out of rooms filled with all kinds of art and hip German artists. How I wished my German were better.
Today is for Robin leaving, procrastination (Supernatural, Samuel R. Delany) and stress. Fuck the GRE and NSF GRFP. Stress often seems to go part and parcel with acronyms.
We ate the Weckmann, but before we ate him we took a picture.
Robin is almostdisguised as a Weckmann.
The view 2/3-way up the Dom tower.
The view all the way up!
If you squint really hard you can see my apartment building.
The other tower. I want to know why the stone is blackened.
Robin is pensive in the Bishops' crypt.
I don't know why, but I love this billboard.
At Kunstwerk!
