River

I've decided I should go on and along the river more. It always re-enthuses me about living in London. The same goes for all of the ancient, recognisable, OK, yes, fine, "touristy" bits of London. I love walking through Westminster for my volunteering evenings with Liberty advice line, for instance -- Parliament Square, the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, the Supreme Court, Westminster Abbey. And I love walking through the Inns of Court, and I love the Royal Courts of Justice.

Happily, one of the quickest ways to reach the new East London Family Court from my chambers involves the river. The new court is out at Canary Wharf, so if I have an afternoon hearing I get the tube from Temple to Tower Hill, walk around the Tower of London (amazing!), board the boat at Tower Hill pier, and ride to Canary Wharf. On the way back I get off either at Blackfriars or at Embankment and walk to chambers (which is about halfway between the two). I prefer Embankment. If I get off there I get to walk past Cleopatra's needle and up through Middle Temple.

I'll try and post pictures sometime...
