Why me?

Text message I just received from Richard:

"The landlord contacted me yesterday, he has put the flat on the market. He will give us two months notice once a buyer has been found. It is unlikely much will happen this side of Christmas but it would be wise to make arrangements soon after I think. Although we are subject to the same two months notice period he has promised to act reasonably if we find alternative accommodation in the interim. I'm away until Monday night but can discuss things further on Tuesday if you both wish" (he obviously sent the same message to John).

Just what I need.

ETA. Having trawled through my land law notes from the GDL, I'm pretty sure we have a legal lease and can't be moved, short of breaking the terms of our contract (eg not paying rent for at least two months or smashing the place up) or agreeing mutually with the landlord to end the lease early. I've texted Richard and John that I think we should consider our options and consult a legal advice bureau to make sure I'm right about that. John seems as unenthusiastic about moving just now as I am; I'll be interested to see what Richard's opinion is.

flat, flat-hunting, aggro
