Well, the purse that went missing off a C2 bus around two and a half weeks ago was in fact not pinched.

If your NI card is there, a little tip would be to keep it at home in the future. As far as I remember, I've never had to produce it for anything - so you'd probably be fine doing that as long as you have a record of it for any necessary forms. :o)

I don't normally carry it in my purse -- it was there for ID purposes for the NSPCC. Very annoying!

While I can sympathise with the annoyance at paying the fee, it's effectively a storage charge, so there's really not a lot of point arguing with it, especially as lost-and-found is almost certainly part of TfL's terms of carriage.

On the plus side, no-one tried to use your cards fraudulently, and yay for £9 back again! :)

I know there's no point arguing it, but I still think it's bloody cheek even if they do call it a "storage charge." I suspect that Lost and Found used to be part and parcel of this sort of service before it was privatised.
