Bits

I found a bedside light for the spare bedroom, from Wilko.  It's got a cream ceramic base and a cream shade.  I even got a light bulb (ES, small) and a spare for it.  So that was good.

Visited B&Q Wednesday, had a good look round (found their beside light collection uninspiring,) got a CO (carbon monoxide) warning thingy (like a smoke alarm but for CO.)  Now all we have to do is put it up, probably in the front room as that's the most enclosed space with a gas appliance.

Got another African Violet too, dark purple this time.  Two leaves came off as it was being transported home so I've put them stem-down in a pot of compost to see if I can take 'cuttings'.

I did quite a bit of walking Wednesday, I did more today ( round the market - apples, satsumas, onions: red and white, carrots, spinnach, grapes, garlic - a good trolleyfull.)  Consequently by the time I got home today my left hip and knees were becoming abusive - as they do when they think I've been walking or standing for too long.  So I spent the rest of the afternoon catching up with an episode of Father Brown and reading the paper, before going and getting the tea.  Maybe I shan't walk about quite so much Friday.

H was paying for something online with his credit card and noticed that they'd removed the 'insert the nth, oth & pth numbers/letters from your ID password step from the process.  'To improve your shopping experience' said the Credit Card firm's blurb.  H is considering contacting them and asking a) is there an 'opt into having the ID password check' step, cos he'd like to use it, and b) why not?

As far as he's concerned, not having the check step doesn't 'improve his shopping experience', it merely makes it easier for card thieves to spend other peoples' credit!

I noticed that my bank had opted out of the same procedure a while back.  'Ease of shopping experience' my left foot!  Whatever happened to 'customer security'?  Oh yes, that never really existed once customer details were computerised, did it?

And yes, Dear Reader, I went to bed at the normal time tonight, only to be wide awake an hour later.  Hence I am writing this rubbish now.  Think I'll turn in soon.

Y'all have a good night/day* now!
