As it happened the weather yesterday was really rather good, specially considering the gloom predicted by the forecast. The overcast lifted, here at least, the sun came out, a breeze blew - more washing dried. Today it's sunny and the washing is out already.
I also had a good look at my saucepans. The enamelled ones I got while living in London many years ago are past it. The interior enamelling 'catches' and burns things on. Two of the lids are still good though, which is just as well as the glass lid from the big blue pan did a suicide dive onto the kitchen floor a while back! Anyhew, I decided that I probably have sufficient saucepans. They just need to be washed up more frequently! #notmydepartment!

Meanwhile
Iraqi troops have battled their way into the ancient city of Nimrud. The scale of destruction wrought by IS on the Assyrian remains has been described as a 'war crime'. Ok, so the remains were amazing, irreplaceable and all that, but they were just stone and brickwork. What IS have done to the people in the places they've overrun, now those are War Crimes.

Donald Trump was being interviewed on TV for the first time since his election.
"What about all the hating going on?' Asked the interviewer. 'Hating you encouraged during your campaign.'
'What hating?' Asked Trump. The interviewer provided examples, with pictures.
'Do you have anything to say to these people?'
'Yes,' replied Trump. 'And I'll say it to camera.' Looks earnestly into camera lens,
'Stop it!'
Yes, Mr President-elect. I'm sure that's really going to make a difference.

And scientists at the University of Lincoln have discovered that
pigs can be optimists or pessimists. Hmmm, wonder how many of them have seen the news from across the Pond? That's enough to depress anyone!

What is it with the craze for taking Selfies? Once upon a time it used to be enough to have a picture of a place. The fact that you had a photo meant that you had been there, obvs. So why 'spoil' the view with a shot of your head as well?
And just wondering, you know the people who automatically try to hide when a camera is pointed at them? D & SiL spring to mind. Do they also take selfies?

Oooh look, the Luftwaffe are still causing havoc! They've been dredging the entrance and approach channels to Portsmouth harbour in preparation for the new Super Carriers which the navy are having built. In doing so they have, at various times, uncovered WWII bombs. Unexploded bombs.
This morning they were up bright and early (5am) and
found such a bomb on the seabed in Portsmouth Harbour. Since when everything's ground to a halt and all shipping into and out of the harbour has been stopped.
Bearing in mind that there are the regular ferries to the Isle of Wight - car and passenger, ferries to France and Spain, private shipping - from small yachts up, cargo ships, naval vessels . . . This is proving a real nuisance - some ferries have been held off Spithead for hours now. Though, presumably, not nearly such a nuisance as letting the shipping carry on and having the bomb blow up under one of them.
The good news, for people wanting to go to and from the Isle of Wight at least, is that the hovercraft ferry is still running. It just has to negotiate all the other anchored shipping!
Ok, I have things to do. Among which, cleaning up the blue nail varnish which went 'over the lines' this morning.
Y'all have a good day now!
