Well, I’m just posting because I’m waiting for my dinner to finish cooking and don’t want to start on any homework so I don’t get myself in “the mode” and then have to quick because my stomach just reminded me dinner’s burnt.
Anyways, A-Kon. I had fun, but since I didn’t have much of a plan going in, I didn’t really have an religious experience; Jason backed out and I honestly didn’t think I’d be going if it was just going to be me. But I did anyway, mainly because of KOTOKO. And I enjoyed myself. It didn’t blow me away, but who really cares? I had fun and that’s what counts. Also, of the near two dozen people I knew that was going, I only ran into Megan. Everyone I know from school I never saw. This shouldn’t be a big surprise, as there was a lot of people there, but since one of them had bright green short hair, I was positive I’d notice her out of a crowd. But, no, it was not so. I did run into a group of people who I spent Sunday with, and that was cool. They planned to do some music videos for next con, and I got invited to help since none of them had a clue how to video edit. ^_^ We’ll see how that pans out.
And, while I love my film camera, I REALLY want to get a good quality digital for next con. Not only was the bulk a bit annoying (my good neck strap broke, thus it was REAL annoying), loading a new film roll every 24 shots sucks when things are happening real fast. I borked a roll when I didn’t advance it right and it didn’t catch during the cosplay contest, so I lost some shots. Not like many of them will turn out too well, as I was pretty far back without a zoom lens. But since it is film, I can probably get some nice images out of them anyways with my scanner. Mainly, though, I was taking shots of obscure costumes and really, really good ones. And anything that caught my funny bone. But, really, digital camera next time. I just need to find a good but affordable one.
I didn’t buy anything. I only went to the dealer’s room once. I intended to not spend a dime over necessities at the con. In a way, I regretted that, as there was one artist there who had some prints I wouldn’t mind having. But at $15 apiece, and three tickling my fancy, I’d have spent too much. That brings me to another point, of all the artists in the market, only a handful of them were really much better than average. If I gain a few skills that I plan to develop in the intervening time, I just might set up shop there and hawk some art.
Funny, this post wasn’t supposed to be very long, as I just wanted to say I enjoyed myself but wasn’t blown away. Funny how I rambled on anyways. Well, after I develop my film, I’ll post up the good shots. There won’t be a whole mess of them, but there’s one of a Dokoro-chan cosplayer, so all’s good. And now I'm off to eat and then do my two final projects that are due Wednesday. Can you guess how much I've done on them?
