As soon as we get story #4 up and done, we'll be starting the series of chaptered stories. As of right now, the first actual chaptered story is probably going to end up around 15 chapters. I know this is going to get confusing so just try to bear with us D:

Past Parts: So You've Found a Friend

One Year Later

"Put that away!" Bill laughed, running barefoot around Gabe's house, jumping over furniture that got in his way. Gabe ran after him, smiling madly, clutching the new digital camera he got to try and take pictures of his friend. The memory card was already half full with pixilated images of blurred color and light because William wouldn't stay still, and Gabe's finger continuously pushed into the round button on the top.

"Bilvy!" Gabe called sweetly, having lost his friend somewhere in the grand home. "Come out, come out, wherever you are!" He stopped and stood in the center of the back living room, the one not off-limits, holding the camera in one hand as his pointer finger on his other hand tapped thoughtfully against his bottom lip. William wasn't the greatest at hide-and-seek, he couldn't exactly keep quiet long enough, so it was only a matter of waiting and listening.

"Billllvvvyyy!" Gabe dragged the nickname out, turning slowly on the balls of his feet, eyes scanning the surrounding area. "I know you're in here, Bilvy!" Right on cue, he heard soft giggles drift out from behind the couch. Quietly, Gabe tiptoed across the floor to the couch, climbing onto the cushions by his knees, leaning over the back. "Smile!" he chimed, quickly flashing a picture.

William hid behind a pillow from the couch, making Gabe frown as he moved his eye from the view finder and over the camera. "Bill! Move the pillow!" he whined, making Bill laugh harder, shaking his head. "Yes! I need to take your picture!"

"No! No more pictures!" The boy yelled into the fabric over his face. Gabe bit his lip and stood, his toes falling into the crease of the couch, reaching over to remove pillow himself. He tugged on the corner but William refused to let go, hugging the pillow as tightly as possible; swinging his legs up to kick Gabe's arms away.

"Bill! Stop!" Gabe released the pillow to swat at Will's long legs instead.

"Put the camera away!" William demanded, still kicking at his older friend. "I hate my picture!"

"But you're so pretty!" Gabe whined, trying to hide the large grin longing to break free. Bill whined in annoyance, he hated when Gabe called him pretty or beautiful or anything feminine-related, because he was a boy, and he was masculine. He hoped. "All I want is one picture!" he said, slightly frustrated.

Trying to smack away William's legs, Gabe lost balance and suddenly toppled forward, falling on top of William who made a huffing-grunt noise, quickly pulling his face from the pillow to breathe. "Gay-buh..."Bill groaned, eyes rolled up and jaw hanging open. Gabe muttered a sorry, rolling into the space between his friend and the wall, checking his camera to see if anything happened to it. Not that it really would have mattered because he could easily buy a new one.

Once determining the device sustained no damage though, Gabe quickly regained his energy and got onto his knees, pointing the device at Bill and snapping a photo. Bill forgot the pain of his friend falling on top of him and went back to smiling, one of Gabe's favorite things to see, Gabe throwing the pillow behind them before Bill could use it for a shield again. "Stop!" the boy giggled madly, covering his eyes with his hands.

"But there's still lots of room!" Gabe protested, sitting back on his heels. "The memory card holds a lot of pictures!"

"You don't have to use them all!" William's hands fell back, showing an exaggerated eye roll.

"You can't develop pictures until it's full!" Gabe frowned, momentarily turning the camera off since the batteries were barely hanging on.

"It's a digital camera, Gabe." Bill sighed dramatically. "You can print the pictures whenever you want."

"Oh." he frowned, looking over the camera. He didn't know most of what it did; he just wanted one. "I still want it full." Gabe shrugged after, frown flipping as he prepared to take more pictures, barely letting the camera rest.

"No!" Bill laughed, scrambling over and getting to his feet, just barely escaping Gabe's grip to run around the house some more.

"Bill!" Gabe whined, wasting no time in following. "The sooner you stay still, the faster I can fill the card!"

He continued to chase his friend around until the two were too exhausted to move.

---------------------------------------------------

After William had to go home, Gabe went to his computer and, after heavily studying the manual (pictures, of course), he put the memory card into the computer to use the special photo printer he got as well. Most of the photos were too blurry to even begin to decipher, but a few were clear or clear enough to be sharpened and printed. There were four hundred something to go through, but he didn't mind.

The photo that really made Gabe smile though was one that actually came out really well of him and William together. It was when they were both too exhausted to continue running around, though Bill didn't stop fighting, and ended up in the gazebo his mother had recently put in the backyard. There was a swing there that Gabe nearly broke a month or so back, where the two fell down to rest, breathing heavily and still laughing hysterically. The sun had been starting to set, even if it was only about six at night, so the lighting wasn't exactly the greatest.

Yet, the picture came out perfectly. Gabe knew it was because Bill's smile was so bright and beautiful. It was better than having flash enabled.

The picture itself was shot at almost a 'myspace' angle, with Gabe holding the camera up overhead and both looking up. William had been leaning on Gabe who leaned slightly back on him as they calmed down on the rocking swing; hearts still racing and bodies more than exhausted. Gabe put one arm around his friend's shoulders to hold him closer, telling him through his shaky breathing about how one day, he would buy William a castle to live in where he would be treated like a prince and all the beautiful princesses would want him. Bill laughed more and said that was more Gabe's dream life and that he really didn't care about princesses because he had the best friend ever to play with instead.

To Gabe, that sounded pretty good too.

It was after both practically reached homeostasis again that Gabe remembered his camera and that there was still room on the memory card that needed to be filled. Regardless of the camera's protest that its batteries, which were those expensive lithium kind, were about to run out from having kept the camera running all day, Gabe took off the flash and played with the various options until he found one he liked. Then, once satisfied, Gabe started rocking the large swing as fast as he could, Bill holding onto him and telling him to stop before he broke it, going back to laughing anyway because they were overtired and when you're overtired, everything is funny.

Without giving any warning, Gabe lifted the camera up, angling it a tiny bit down on them, and grinned stupidly while pressing the circular button on top until it died and refused to turn on again. William tried to take the camera away but Gabe wouldn't even let Bill touch it and took off for the house again; hiding it quickly before a very exhausted William finally caught up. For the rest of the evening, they watched cartoons, William leaving around eight because it was a school night.

All of the pictures, really, made Gabe happy, because they were of William, and Will made him happy. But the reason the one picture stood out above the others was because it was the last he had gotten to take and it was perfect. It was right before the camera died and wasn't quite a surprise or angsty-annoyed photo like the others. In this one, William was relaxed and laughing, beaming, and Gabe couldn't stop from grinning madly. It was the only one he printed that night, lying it beside his head on his pillow while he slept.

In the photo, Gabe was holding William tight against him Bill's head lying on his shoulder. His head was tipped onto Bill's, but not enough to be fully supporting it. The swing had been swaying forward at that moment, the wind blowing strands of Will's hair over his face and practically into his wide open mouth. The sun bathed the boy in a warm honey color, just barely extending over to Gabe, catching on Will's sparkling eyes to make them stand out even more. Bill had one arm around Gabe's neck and the other over his body, hugging him, looking up at the camera that Gabe held. Both looked happier than anyone else in the world and that as long as they had each other, nothing could ever go wrong. The background was a blurred view of vibrant flowers.

But the background didn't matter because it wasn't what Gabe cared about. What he cared about was right there, in his arm. And even when Gabe printed out tons more of the pictures to fill frames on every surface of his room, that picture remained hidden beneath his pillow, because that wasn't for anyone else to see. That was Gabe's photo, Gabe's William, Gabe's best friend, Gabe's angel, and he wasn't about to share.
