Thanks to Woman's Hour, I've just learnt that Queen Charlotte1 had a
sulking room at Kew Palace! I bet she needed it, an' all.
This strikes me as a marvellous idea. I can't decide whether it's then same thing as a
growlery,2 or if there's a subtle difference in the type of ill humour w/ which one retires to either such room, or if it a sulking room might be a specifically feminine equivalent. Whatever the distinction, I'm sure I could make excellent use of either. Or both.
