Prep for next year
Well, the moderator has been and gone, hopefully my marks weren't changed so I should be looking at some As and A*s this time round, with over 75% with A-C and all but 1 with a pass mark.
With 2 staff in the dept retiring this year and no suitable applicants, we shall have to do some creative time tabling for next year. The model being a collapsed timetable only teaching one group a day, 2 days each group or something similar.
We have been promised lots of new things. The block is being redesigned. New machines for me in Sept.
We are also going to be making the shift to product design at KS4. This in turn will affect how we teach DT to KS3.
I am quite enthusiastic about it. It will be hard and there will need to be lots of effort put into the planning, getting used to it etc.
I am also putting on a trip to the clothes show and hopefully a trip to the design museum in London next year.
Lots of worky stuff. Although this brief synopsis really doesn't reflect the amount of work that there is to do and what the knock on effect of these changes will have when it comes to reports, target setting and the like.
