The East Coast has to be one of the places I love to play at most during a tour. Each and every big city that we play in has got this whole feeling like it's going to fuck you over with the dirtiness and the big, corporate bullshit that it's going to pull. And I love it. The scene and the fans out here just pump me up and make me more excited to play. People seem to appreciate the music more so than what's going on in the singer's personal life. And that's just really fucking cool, you know? I'm not in this band to expose my personal life, I'm in this band because I love to play music.
Every feeling I get when I'm on stage, playing music and singing lyrics that I wrote myself with my band are the best that I experience. When I was small, the things that the individuals in bands I enjoyed did, didn't phase me all that much. That was twenty-something years ago, and times have changed. In California, people want to know what you look like, what you're wearing, who you're dating, who you're fucking, what you're snorting, so on and so forth. It feels like the exact opposite in New York, Cincinnati, Boston, and every other city out here we've played.
For five more dates, we'll be here. Starting on the 28th, The Queens of The Stone Age will be touring with us. Touring with Josh and the rest of The QOTSA is absolutely marvelous. They're all such terrific musicians. With the energy they bring with them on stage combines with ours, it's something that can't quite be put into words.
