hi there! i'd just like to start off by saying thank you for volunteering to write for a random stranger in a shared fandom, cause seriously.... how awesome is that?
i've never participated in
yuletide before, and i hear about it every year, and thanks to some peer pressure... here i am in the mix! i'm very excited but i'm also kinda not sure what to say in one of these letter thingies... and since my lj is locked, let me just give you some background info on why i chose my requested fandoms, and what i love about them.
RPF - Dancing with the Stars: it is beyond shameful that i love this show as much as i do, but i don't care. i'm a biiiig sports fan, and i've been a longtime fan of costume design and music, and this show seems to touch on all of those loves. i'm a huuuge fan of the over-the-top'ness (is that even a word? of the show itself and its personalities.
i love the judges' quick and clever banter and the way they interact with each other, if you could touch on that, i would love you forever.
as for dancers, i'm a big fan of the over-the-top, vocal and seriously hot derek hough and maksim chmerkovskiy.
my range of fic-zen goes from snappy, banter-y gen, to lusty, flirty, kinky NC-17 het or slash (or combo). rating isn't important, and really i will love anything that is written.
horatio hornblower (tv): this is one of my oldest fandoms, from before i was even aware that fandom existed. i'm a big fan of the classic brotherly aspect of the genre, the closeness between men on the high seas and at war. my favorite characters are archie and horatio and although i'm not a big fan of schmoop or soppy!romantic-al aspects, i would love dearly for their love for each other (in a brotherly or slashy way) really shine through. i know that plotlines and details are difficult in a very epic, traditional fandom, and those details aren't as important to me as the people aspect.
Hercules the Legendary Journeys: oh another fandom where i roll my eyes at myself for shamelessly loving, but ultimately don't care who knows it! if you are a fan of the show because of its cracky potential for cracky crackiness... then we are kindred! i love the random, clever (or desperately unclever) attempts at working greek (or other) myths into some of the weirdest plotlines involving kevin sorbo ever! i'm a huge mythology fan, so takes on classic myths using the characters in ways the show failed to do is totally kosher with me! i would prefer slash since existing fic always has an 'erotic adventures of hercules: starring troy mcclure' flavor, but clever, hilarious (or tragically lame-in-a-good-way) gen is totally cool with me. if you've been dying to come up with something crazy with this fandom, i'd love to read it! again, rating is not important. i would love anything written for me.
Fringe: okay, so this is like my only grown up fandom. i'm not inspired by the cracky potentials of this world, but rather i'm intrigued by deep, hidden passion and well-concealed emotions between people who have grown to be fond of each other despite themselves. i like a tricked out story (the potential for weirdness is seemingly endless) but one centered around the bonds between family and friends would be amazing. olivia is probably my favorite character and i feel deeply about her experiences with charlie and clone!charlie, and how they affected her... but even more interesting is peter's undeniable connection with her and the way they go *out* of their way to ignore it. i'd love to see them open up a little. with a techie show, it could get really scary, so if you're attempting to write fringe, don't worry about the technical aspects of the show. i thrive on learning about the characters, and should you attempt your hand at fringe for me, just let your imagination and love for the characters inspire you and i promise i will love it dearly.
ps-ness: walter is another love for me, and love that he hides the pain he's endured and self-inflicted so well beneath his seemingly innocent and childish fascade. his love for peter is something i adore, because no matter how badly parallel!pete (as i sometimes refer to him) treats him, walter never falters...and he still loves him no matter what.
i'm sorry to blather. i sometimes run on without much to make of it... but if you are the kind stranger who will write to me, i thank you advance and promise that no matter what comes of your inspiration that i will love and appreciate the effort taken to bless me with a gift of such creation.
thank you and happy inspirational holidays!
