A friend is bring a LARP facilitator to Toowoomba for a party.
I'd not heard of them, despite them being based in my old stomping ground (and place of exile) Beenleigh. I had a look at their website:
http://amazingadventures.com.au/ Their system is full-contact, which counts me and the loose pile of debris I laughingly call a spine out of it.
That's always going to be a problem for me LARPing, full contact means I'd need a battle harness/armor to protect my spine and absorb impact and jolt (change in acceleration). There's also my GF being in a wheelchair, so quests would be hard even on school ovals and similar smooth lawn venues.
I suspect that the only way I (and my GF) could get involved in LARPs would be if they were substantial and needed shop keepers, temple based priests and the like. By substantial I mean having reasonably large numbers of players and lots of in character non-combat stuff happening.
Like Ren fairs, LARPing has never taken off here. Shame.
