Daves Music Club: Stay
Welcome to the first lesson of Dave's Music Club. I'm attempting to enlighten all you Eminem lovin', Hilary Duff wannabe music fans who think there is nothing out there except Fuel and Xtina.
The first lesson... "Stay", by Lisa Loeb and Nine Stories.
This song was featured in the 1994 movie Reality Bites, and came out during the spring of my freshman year in college. Yes, I realize many of you were embryos, but thats not the point.
You ever had one of those songs that just flows off the tip of your tongue? Almost like, if someone asked you what a certain part was in the middle of the song, you'd have to go through the entire song before getting to the requested part, but you can shoot through the song in like, seconds? Thats what this song is.
The video featured Lisa Loeb, who looks alot like Kennedy for those of you who... wait, none of you know who Kennedy is either. Okay, back in the day, MTV actually showed music videos--no, seriously, I promise. And introducing those videos was a VeeJay... not a Disc Jockey DJ, but a Video Jockey, VJ. Kennedy was one. And she looked like Lisa Loeb. This is back when Real World was more than hot tubbing and gettin' it on, back during Real World San Francisco (RW 3, actually.)
So, Lisa is walking around this apartment singing. Thats it. Thats all she does. And yet, its a great song.
