Hello all!
I'm going on holiday on Friday. It's to Tenerife again, with my parents. This is something I said I wouldn't do again for a long time, but now I just need a break. I wasn't looking forward to it for the longest time as it's eaten into my savings a bit, but I just want to get away so now I'm excited! I'm also nervous. A band we're good friends with over there always get me up to play with them. I lack a lot of confidence in my guitar-playing anyway, considering Dave is an amazing guitarist, and on many occasions, Pete Townshend from The Who has been there and played with them, and I can't follow Pete Townshend. But this time, I have the added issue of my shoulder being seriously fucked, which is making playing difficult. I can always get up and sing with them, I suppose.
I've changed my eating habits. I no longer eat bread (I have rice cakes instead) except for the weekly Subway before my course because I have no other options, I very rarely eat potatoes, going for rice instead, and instead of snacking on chocolate, I've been eating dried blueberries or things from graze boxes. And I'm loving it.
The Last Leg, then. I went a few weeks ago with
jesse_kips to a recording, and we were on screen for almost all of it, right behind Josh and Alex. Then in the final episode of this current series, they showed
this poster I photoshopped. For those who don't understand, The Last Leg is a comedy talk show that began life as a post-Paralympics chat show in 2012. It's presented by Australian comedian Adam Hills, UK comedian Josh Widdicombe, and journalist Alex Brooker. Adam and Alex are both disabled. In one of the episodes, a viewer commented about Alex and Josh's sexual tension, and they wanted people to tweet in suggestions for a name for a "Jalex" rom-com. The best suggestion was Friends With Disability Benefits. I got bored, and mocked up that film poster for it, and tweeted it to them. Then my twitter EXPLODED, and they showed the poster on the actual show! It was awesome.
I'm currently reading Carry A Big Stick by Tim Ferguson, and it's giving me major Doug Anthony All Stars feels again. Curse this small, mostly Australian based fandom!
