Today was boring. I baked over a hundred cookies. Mom, Rachele and I put together a gingerbread house which was pretty frustrating. The icing wasn't thick enough and the gum balls kept sliding off the roof. I had to hold one up with each finger but it still didn't work so we had to switch candy.
Yesterday, Grandma Bonnnie and I went Christmas shopping. I pick out clothes and then she buys them, takes them home and wraps them, and then gives them to me for Christmas. It's a good system we have but yesterday sucked.
I was supposed to get jeans since mine are holy. We went to Gap and Express (my two favorite jean places) but they were pretty much cleaned out of jeans. Grandma Bonnie isn't one for walking all over the mall so I didn't want to drag her from store to store to find some good pairs.
I decided that I really needed practical shoes for walking. I have a pair of tennis shoes, I've had since the 8th grade. I saved up my own money to buy them. They are perfectly worn in but I rarely wear them anymore. They are starting to fall apart. Well, yesterday I wanted to get cute, non-tennis shoes, like the cute puma ones. Well, Grandma Bonnie, being the expert on shoes, dictated where we would go. First we went to Robinsons May. Then we went to Dillards. Then we went to Nordstrom. It was terrible. All of the shoes I tried on either looked funny or were out of stock. My feet were aching!
We were both very disappointed because when we had gone birthday clothes shopping, we had gotten everything at one store in an hour and a half...which included a stop at her fave restaurant. Well, earlier at Gap, I had found a really cute lime green blazer so we bought that.
Then she took me over to the new DSW shoe store. That store was HUGE! We had issues there too. Grandma Bonnie told me to walk down every single aisle and look at every pair of shoes. To give you an idea of the size of the store, remember the commercial where that lady has that huge stack of shoe boxes in her arms? And then she drops one so she has to kick it toward the cash register....they say something about being equipped with shoes. Well, that's DSW, and you can see how big it is in the background. Everything there looked funny too. Finally, Grandma said, "Maybe these shoes just aren't you." I said, "Maybe. I guess the only okay shoes like this are actual tennis shoes." So I found a cute pair of tennis shoes that I'll be taking to China.
It was so depressing though. After 3 and a half hours, we only managed to find two things. GRRRR!!! Oh well, my shoes are practical and my blazer is velvety
Happy Weekend!
