So I wanted all of you Poisonwood Bible readers to know the 411 here....
Stafford does not check if you have read it by the time school has started. Honestly, I was in the 20% who had finished it over the summer. Most of the people are only like, 20 pages in or so when you get back. She is very well aware of this although she likes you to believe that she is not. You don't have quizzes or anything the day you get back. She gives you a little bit of leniency (spelling?) at the beginning because she knows that you are trying to adjust. The first quarter is probably the most annoying because everyday for your warm up, she has you write down the agenda for the day. It's really stupid. After a while, most people stop and she doesn't care anymore. It might be helpful to take your pages of notes while you read because I didn't do that. It just added more time for me because I had to go back and skim through. Just do it all at once. Honestly, only like 60-75% of the class actually read the Poisonwood Bible in its entirety, even when we had tests and stuff. If I remember correctly, you have a timed writing and a multiple choice on it but I think that's it. That doesn't come for awhile either. You discuss the book for a long time. So if you're freaking...S-T-O-P. I'm not saying don't read it (it could well possibly screw you over). I'm saying, if you are working yourself in to a frenzy...don't be stupid. Enjoy your summer.
If you want to know what is being planned...call me, I'll be home unless I'm at work or out.
