It's my roommate's birthday...that means there are no more teenagers living in this apartment. No teen pregnancy for any of us. whoo hoo.
We decided that the big outing for her first few birthday minutes at midnight would be for us to go to CVS. We bought laundry detergent. Sometimes, I just have to pause and think about how gosh darn exciting we are.
SIFE is driving me insane. For those of you that don't know, I kind of got into a fight with one of the heads of UF's business college, who runs the organization. He got all prissy and puffed up because I did a presentation on an international project instead of a local gainesville one ("Brittney, you obviously do not apprecciate all that we do in SIFE, or the needs of the Gainesville community"). God forbid I bring up something as realistic as-GASP-globalization. I responded by taking his unprofessional and insulting email that he sent me (well, actually, he sent it to someone else in my class first, because he couldn't bother to look up the right email address, or you know, just talk to me in person like a true professional would. Consequently, four of my peers read the Brittney-bashing before I did), going up to his office, and systematically destroying each of his arguments. And then I told him how he could have handled the situation more professionally. And then I told him he owed me an apology. And then I was smug for the rest of the day.
But it's still annoying. Plus, the project I'm working on is pretty demanding. I'm just supposed to be the head business consultant for this guy who's starting up a homeless education center. That means I deal with business plans and logistics and marketing the cause. Instead I get phone calls that go something like:
Him: "Alex (his business partner) is being annoying."
Me: "...okay...um look, I'm kind of on my way somewhe--"
Him: "All he does is hang out with his girlfriend. Could you tell him he needs to work with me more on our committees?"
Me: "I don't know if that's really my place to tell him not to hang out with his girlfriend."
Him: "He's not listening to me."
Me: "Have you told him that you need to get stuff done?"
Him: "No."
Me: "I think you should do that."
Anyway.
Oh, I'm going to India this summer. That should be fun. I feel like I might spend the first week there just crying from the culture shock and being without anyone I know. And then once I get over that, I'd like to ride an elephant. I don't think I can do that though, because I'll be in Bangalore, which is a big city. I don't think they ride elephants through those cities. It's too crowded with people as it is.
So that's all for now. I kind of need to do laundry. That's possible now, for us...now that we have Dara's CVS birthday laundry detergent.
Fun fun.
